Windows vs Linux Power Consumption

Post by Zema Bus »

Using a kilowatt meter I looked at the idle power consumption of one of those mini computers in Windows 11, and then in Linux. When in Windows it averaged about 20 W, but in Linux it averaged only 10 W. I guess all the annoyance and telemetry built into in Windows 11 requires a lot more power :)

It used to be the other way around, Linux drained batteries a lot faster. It's certainly true that Windows 11 doesn't stay quiet for long. Every time it tries to crawl up your anus, it uses CPU cycles :-)
