Crappy Water Company

Post by Zema Bus »

One of the many things I've learned from this move, you should research the utility companies you'll be stuck with in the area you're considering moving to. The electric company has been OK so far, but the others not so much. The water company is the worst of them. They have auto-bill-pay but you can't control the date it pays, if it pays a day after the due date they send you a letter threatening to disconnect your service. I took a look at what people on Yelp had to say about them, and it's pretty bad. People were complaining they had their water disconnected after one week late on a payment and sometimes entire neighborhoods get disconnected. Some were disconnected while they were paid up. And once disconnected it can take a week to get reconnected. Their website is horrendous as well, there's no way to tell when the next due date will be, and looking at the prior bills the day of the month it's due varies. So I have to sign in frequently so I can pay it manually as soon as it shows a payment due. I don't think this is going to be my last move.

LOL... auto pay, and they disconnect you if IT is late at taking the money? That is utterly ridiculous. They get away with it, because it's a mean spirited society where companies are the protected parties.

I've never heard of anybody getting their water cut off here. Electricity yes (but not in winter months) but never water. I think they use other means of collection, like eventually putting a lien on your house etc.
