I've about had it with OpenDNS. First, that bullshit I went through with that overzealous CISCO Umbrella filtering that was preventing me from getting to some sites. I finally got that sorted by getting a static IP from my ISP (some other asshole had my previous dynamic one and configured it for filtering) and finding that there were two places I had to turn off filtering but now I've got persistent latency on name lookups. It's probably something in the route, but the end result is I'm unhappy.
I don't trust Google or Cloudfare, so I'm thinking of Quad 9
https://www.quad9.net/
They filter malware sites, but they don't log queries and they have separate servers for no filtering.
9.9.9.9 and 149.112.112.112 (secondary) for filtered
9.9.9.10 and 149.112.112.10 for unfiltered (which is what I'll be using)
I've just temporarily stuck them in my /etc/resolv.conf for now (normally populated from my network config and resolvconf scripts) and we'll see how it goes today. I'll do the same tomorrow and we'll see how it works out. If so, then I'll change my routers and network configuration files to use them.

I just looked over their site, it looks promising.

So I used Quad9 for the rest of the day and night yesterday, and had similar latency. It wasn't a big deal, maybe half a second delay on first lookup of something but it was noticeable and I hate noticing things.
I'm back on OpenDNS (didn't change resolv.conf yet after booting up) and it's back to being instant. There was something in gtt.net causing the latency Saturday and yesterday (traceroute).
I'll keep Quad9 on the back burner as a viable alternative though.
