Temp Loss Of Connectivity With YouTube Videos

Since moving here I've had this strange issue where I lose all connectivity if I play a YouTube video at the start of the day. It generally doesn't last longer than about 1 min or so and usually only happens once per day, early in my day (late morning). It's a minor problem since it doesn't last long and only happens once but I'd sure like to figure out what causes it. Grogan I remember you were having a similar issue that was related to your modem? In my case I have what is essentially an optical to electrical signal modem that was installed on the wall by the ISP. It doesn't happen everyday, and I just went 3 or 4 days without an occurrence until it happened again Wednesday morning. And it often only lasts 5 - 20 seconds, whereas other times it can be up to about 1 min.

There's something weird about youtube videos, isn't there. It used to make my cable modem go dead and need power cycling. Well, I'm sure there was a problem, it was just the trigger. Also, it wasn't quite dead, just no TCP connectivity. Oddly, UDP still worked. It's hard to say if it was only youtube triggering it.

It's probably some weird behaviour on their end, and it confuses devices. It might not even be our devices, but upstream ignoring us or something. Though I'm inclined to think it was corrupting something in the modem's registers or something like that (hence, needing to be yanked, it wouldn't recover on its own)

I haven't had a problem like that in many months.

I haven't had a single re-occurrence of this since the connection was restored after the outage.

That's good, it could be that they fixed/changed something on their network.

(Of course, no matter what it is, whenever I say "ahh" the problem is solved, it usually happens again soon after )
