Old Game Boy

Post by Zema Bus »

I found my Game Boy from 1990, it still works.Back in my mid 20's this was my primary game machine. My family also had an Atari 400 that connected to a spare TV but by 1990 I wasn't using it much. That all changed around 1992 when we got a Packard Bell 386SX and I started playing DOS games downloaded from local BBS's.

It is kind of hard to go back, somehow it's just not the same :) There were some old 1990's games I spent many hours playing just the shareware versions, like the original Quake from 1996 and Descent from 1995. In more recent times I came into procession of the full games of both of those, but I never played them beyond maybe the first 10 or 20 mins, even though I would have loved to have had the full games back in the 90's. By then I was spoiled by modern games and it wasn't nearly as fun. The ambiance in the original Quake is still great, the graphics not so much. I wish they'd create a modern version of that.

I can't play old games anymore, they are pointless. Even modern run around and shoot em up games don't keep my attention for long. (e.g. Borderlands games)

I'm more into RPGs, but not old ones. I tried to play Elder Scrolls Morrowind but it was too rudimentary. A huge world, full of nothing, with poor navigation. I never got out of the first area because I couldn't the stupid things I was supposed to do in the city.
