The Last of Us

Post by Grogan »

I'm finally getting this game. Well, Part 1, which is the original game remastered since the original PS4 game. I always read about it, and saw images from it but it was Playstation 4 exclusive back then. Bob had it in his rack of games, but I never got to see it because he said it was difficult and frustrating. I don't think he played much of it, but I took that as an answer, as I don't like frustrating games. It's been available on PC for some time, but I avoided it because of that.

Well, I'm bored and I need a new game and this one was on for $46 CAD (I got the Deluxe for $56). I'm sure I'll play this one. It's got a Gold rating on protondb and difficulty doesn't come up as a problem in searches.

It's still downloading, but I'll get some screenshots up as I get playing it.

It's pretty good on the easiest setting "Very Light" difficulty they call it. The game mostly consists of finding your way through a ruined city, trying to avoid soldiers (limited ammo) and try to kill infected people quietly. I think I'm past the soldiers now. It's like a zombie apocalypse, fungal plague (a parasitic cordyceps fungus). Ellie, the 14 year old girl you were tasked with smuggling out of the city, has some immunity to it and may be the key to developing a cure. Things are pretty grim and tragic. Good practice for the coming apocalypses

Anyway, I started making screenshots. That's one thing the Steam overlay is good for.

Those particular advanced infected seem to have super human strength. They spit pus at you that does damage and makes it hard to see, too. If one of those get close to you, there's nothing you can do, it literally rips your face apart (eyes bug out and everything lol). They take ALOT of ammo to bring down, and ammo is scarce. Several hunting rifle shots, shotgun, revolver... almost out of ammo. Then finally. Best to run from those.

It's actually a pretty grim game, I enjoy exploring houses and buildings for supplies, but the game has a high yuck factor. The combat is deliberately cumbersome.
