I don't remember that first one being bad (the enemy is big, but not that difficult), but they are higher leveled. Those are the Asgard story arcs, where you are Odin (Havi... their name for him and Frigg is Freya)

In addition to your character and skill points, you need to choose good weapons and keep upgrading them. You can typically fight enemies around 50 power levels above you, it's arbitrary, not like typical player levels, based on how many skill points you have in the tree.

I got some mythical heavy axe early in the game that I kept upgrading as my main weapon. I mostly do heavy strikes holding shift. I also got a mythical "needler", a Predator bow. They are like a sniper bow that you don't have to draw (right click to aim and just left click to shoot) which does massive damage, but you can only carry few arrows. It starts off with 7 until you upgrade your quill, up to 14.

Ahh fuck, the game ended with a whimper. The final day turned out to be a trap, King Aelfred fled and left his minions and soldiers to our axes. We won, but good allies (friends) died. Funerals, having to break bad news to wives etc.

Once I got back to Randvi in Ravensthorpe, there's no more battle map quests and the game just said, with a little popup, "You have pacified all of England, but your saga isn't done. Explore, eliminate the rest of the Order of the Ancients, do this, do that etc."

I knew it wasn't going to let me kill King Aelfred, because historically he eventually makes peace with the Danes, but I was hoping to confront him and make him say uncle or something (he's been traitorous, dishonourable, pious and insulting)

I still have two more seer's quests in Asgard and Svartalfheim to do. Hopefully some things get explained. I already know because I went and looked something up, my hunch was right about who Basim was. Eivor still doesn't understand, he just thinks he went mad and still doesn't know his own nature either.

This is the ultimate spoiler, but you may not ever finish this game anyway (It's fucking long and if I know you, you'll be on to something else before you do, with the limited disposable time you have). This one character write up explains the relationship to the gods, the Staff of Hermes Trismigustus and Layla. We've been had, all long. You didn't finish Odyssey, so you went into this with a lot less info that I had, too.

That is true. I still haven't finished Far Cry 6 and I usually finish those titles (I may yet, I got a lot done in it). One of the things eating up a lot of my time lately will be over soon though. Thanks Grogan, I'll check that out.

I don't get much accomplished when I play Far Cry 6. I guess I just don't really like those games that much (starting with Far Cry 3, it's been a similar formula). I played the other night for a while, actually started a mission (but got side tracked taking checkpoints and military bases etc.) but quit when I got to the contact and got the mission. Sounds weird, but what turns me off playing it for long is that you can't save. You have to quit at a place where you'll spawn, in between missions, so once I reach one I often quit.

Far Cry 5 Arcade was fantastic, but they fucked that up by degrading the servers. Last time I tried it I couldn't even finish a map without getting disconnected and then the menu wouldn't start another. So I took my disk space back.

I just found out there's no New Game+ for this one. Ubisoft can blow it out their asses... I'll not purchase another of their games again.

That was my main motivation to finish it, getting to start a new game+ with all my gear and stats, and not having to bother with finding keys for chests etc. I'm not enjoying that last Svartalfheim story arc (gimmicky... I have to use this rechargable power to walk on lava to fight the invaders from fiery Muspelheim) so I think I'll just pack it in now. Time to go back to Kassandra.

They can shove that Star Wars RPG too, I was going to buy it when it came on Steam in November but I haven't been hearing good things about it, and now I'm pissed.

I raided a monastery and liberated a lot of captive soldiers. Most of them had my clan's blue color but a few were red, including this big guy who immediately joined the fight against the enemies beheading one of them with the head rolling on the floor until the game removed it within a few seconds. I think that's the first time I saw that happen in this game.

You get that at random (e.g. when you get a finishing kill scene), there's decapitations and dismemberment. Odyssey had dumbed down gore (none, really) but they brought it back for Valhalla. Gotta have gore!

Heheh... I got a good finisher (actually it was an assassination kill) that I'd not noticed before. I was at this Thieve's Warren fort in Gloucestershire to find an Order cultist clue. So I went around and killed all the bandits and finished looting that place (I was there before in the game but I had to rescue and escort someone and didn't have time).

I pressed F to assassinate a bandit, and Eivor knifed her, then poked her eyes with his fingers (3 stooges style)

Unfortunately, the corpse didn't have its eyes poked out after the event when I looked down at it, though.
