Borderlands movie

Post by Grogan »

I didn't realize that was out, I'm watching it right now.

Sure, it's cheesy, but it's a familiar, beloved setting. Just what my broken brain needs right now. Pandora looks a lot like the first game. Right now, it's Lilith (who doesn't know she's a Siren yet) gone to Pandora to find Tina, who is the daughter of Atlas (the previous owner of the Atlas Corp.). She was created by Atlas, with Eridian blood, to open Vaults. That's not canon from the games, Tina's parents were killed by bandits on Pandora (that Fleshstick). But OK.

We hitched a ride with... Marcus in his van. I've got Claptrap (ultra annoying) with me now, he's been "programmed" to help me by someone unknown. Claptrap scanned the EchoNet and Tina is in... Tundra Express and that's where I'm going now.

I'm watching this by myself so I can enjoy it on its own merits without anyone criticizing and cutting up every aspect of it (otherwise I'd have saved it) :nastylol:

It was somewhat disappointing, but I did enjoy it. They could have done more with this. It took me to familiar areas of Pandora, but it felt more like stage props than the locations. Tundra Express where I went to find Tina was just a pile of junk she was hiding in. The terrain was otherwise the same. When we were going to the Caustic Caverns I was excited, but it was just some corridors with grating and green corrosive goo flowing. That was a pretty spectacular underground area in the game.

Lilith was pretty good, somewhat in character. Probably the closest one.
Tannis was good (Jamie Curtis!). Completely different actress for the role, but she was in good character.
Tiny Tina was good, played by a 19 year old (Ariana Greenblatt), but she did a good job of posing as a kid.
Roland was disappointing. Completely out of character. Not a bad character, but it was nothing like Roland. Fail.
Claptrap's voice was wrong. There was no point in using Jack Black, for there really wasn't any character for him to impart.
General Knoxx was a female, completely and utterly out of character. She was actually good and tried to stop Atlas in the end, and got killed for it. (which doesn't fit in with the story at all)

Note: Actually I just read that it was General Knoxx's daughter in a wiki. So that's not so blatantly stupid, then.

Marcus was very close to the character
Moxxi was off. (Voice and mannerisms wrong)

Was there cell shading? I'll definitely watch it once I'm able to. Was Jack in it? He was a fun villain in those games, wish they hadn't killed him off. Well, actually I guess I killed him, multiple times lol!

No, it takes place before Borderlands 2. I don't think Jack was in the picture yet.
