I did some testing of the GL.iNet GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) travel router to see how well it'll work out for a temp stay in an AirBnB. I connected my old ThinkPad to it via the router's LAN port and connected the router wirelessly to my wireless AP to test out the setup I'll have in the AirBnB. First here's my wired speed. ironically I just got a speed bump from Spectrum, now that I'm going to be leaving.
And here's the wireless speed via the travel router when connected to the 2.4G channel:
And via the 5G channel:
This is what it looks like:
There's only one LAN port but I can bring a switch to connect two machines. So now to sort out the VPN.

Re: Travel Router
Stubby looking little thing
I guess the idea is that it's small.
Are you testing that router as a wireless client? If the AirBNB is shitty, you can fall back to mobile if it can use the WiFi hotspot. (I know I can do that with DD-WRT)

Re: Travel Router
It is tiny
Yeah, most AirBnB's only offer WIFI so I tested it that way, and then I had the ThinkPad connect via Ethernet to the travel router's LAN port. It can also be configured to hotspot tethering.
