Re: New Mesa
I had a promising looking ray tracing improvement just merged into Mesa, BREAK the one game that uses RT that I most care about right now. Metro Exodus Enhanced was deadlocking before/on the menu screen (animated, train, moving scenery etc.). As I'm actively playing that right now, that won't do. It ...

I don't mind a nice cat (like any friendly animal) but for the most part, I don't much care for cats. I don't like their attitude and I don't trust them. Fiendish little creatures, most house cats.

Re: EFF "Cover Your Tracks"
Interesting... I just tried it and got horrible results, but I have all privacy stuff turned off in the browser because I don't want it getting in my way. Ublock Origin doesn't seem to be blocking anything on that site (the tracker it is using wouldn't be in the anti-tracking URL lists), it's likely ...

You know I agree. Simplicity is what I like. I even use XFCE more like a window manager than a DE, I don't build the shit I don't like (e.g. Thunar... that bites the weenie) or its atrocious power manager.

I like people who aren't afraid to embrace clownish humour. It's what some people would be thinking about the title anyway, so why not use it.

We didn't have 7 Eleven stores in Canada back then, but I remember seeing those machines in hardware and electronics stores as a kid.
Now there's nothing you can fix on a TV.

I heard, and it sounds like good news but he'll throw them some sort of bone, throw someone else under a bus, or come up with a distraction to placate them. They are easily manipulated.

It's true though, the cunt. There's no other explanation for this shit. He's now calling it all fake news, a CIA plot concocted by Obama and everyone. A long string of nonsense to cover for Bondi who is doing a "terrific job".

Well, for $399, the PinePhone Pro comes with Manjaroo on it
I don't know about compatibility with carriers though. There can be proprietary protocols and shit that Samsung and other big vendors license.
I have this now though, maybe next time I'll consider it again at that time.

It's incredibly stupid, and things like this are being fueled by the MAGAT misinformation machine. There are militias attacking weather radar towers because they claim they are influencing the weather. Oh, and "chemtrails" are still a thing.

I could flash another OS on my old phone, and just play with it like a tablet (wifi, no sim card)
What I'd really like to have is one of those Linux phones.

Re: Sniper Elite Resistance
Ahh, Vercors Vendetta. That map is very artistic. The combat is fairly easy and relaxing, you can do most of it at range.
The kill challenge in that map is difficult though and it's not obvious how to do it. You have to kill the fucker with a nebelwerfer that's a few feet away from him. That means ...

I'm a bit disappointed, I watched all 3 of those videos and he really didn't say much about the topic. He always spends some time talking about himself (which I don't mind, he's interesting) but most of the time was spent repeating admonishments to that Ross guy, who didn't want to carry the torch ...

Android has gotten as bad as Windows 11. It makes you jump through hoops to turn off spying and other obnoxious behaviour like notifications.

Probably the main thing is new AMD processor TSA vulnerabilities, but many other fixes as well.

Re: New Phone Today
One setting I found in that Quik SMS program is confirmation that the text was successfully sent. I remember never knowing if it was sent or still pending at times when I had weak signal (reason to suspect). Now it shows "message successfully sent" on completion with this program.

Well I did it, I installed that F-Droid repository app (nag, nag, nag to get the OS to allow installing software... and I also turned off Auto Protection which was getting in my way), so I could install Quik SMS

Bazzite though
How wasteful and silly, to run everything out of individual containers because the system is immutable.

I'd love to have a Linux phone, but around here you'd have trouble finding a carrier it works on. Proprietary protocol stacks etc.

I have to find a replacement for the SMS messaging application. There's no more Samsung Messages, It's "Google Messages" now and I hate it, especially since I had no choice but to agree with Google spying on my messages. They don't include "phone numbers" but they upload and analyze your SMS ...
