Atomfall is an RPG'ish type game from Rebellion (of the Sniper Elite games). I couldn't resist this one on release day.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/801800/Atomfall/
It's set in the aftermath of a nuclear accident in England. It seems like it's going to be Fallout-like
This is the first thing I saw when I got out of the facility, I woke up in there not remembering, encountered a wounded scientist and got his keycard etc. I haven't played enough to say much yet, but so far so good.
The phone box in the screenshot was ringing, and I answered it to the creepy voice repeating "Oberon.... must... die" lol

So far this game isn't very interesting. It's kind of ugly too, with poor antialiasing that moves around when you pan and walk. (similar to Sniper Elite Resistance but it looks terrible in this kind of game). The buildings and stone steps and stuff don't look very real either, it's not very immersive.
The combat is unfun, ammo is very scarce so your primary weapon is a cricket bat. Other melee weapons are weaker and don't have as much coverage which is important, because you get harangued by swarms of rats that you have to swat out of the way.
For exploration, I haven't yet found anything interesting. Old bunkers and sewers that look like crap. The objective of the game is to find clues to pursue to solve the mystery of what happened at the nuclear plant, how you came to be there and to trigger your memory (you woke up in a bunker with amnesia)
I have racked up 95 minutes of play time, and I have a decision to make. Get a refund while I can, or keep trying to like it. I am quite underwhelmed by this, I was expecting it to be a good game from Rebellion. Disappointing.

I made the decision to refund it at 98 minutes play time. Smartest decision I've made lately.
I did get it looking somewhat better by enabling 200% Render Scale (essentially renders it at 3840x1160 and resamples it down to 1920x1080 in my case) to fix the antialiasing and shimmer. Similar in effect to super sampling. I shouldn't have to do that though, that's takes a performance hit. The game is non-interesting though.
What an awful game engine for this type of game... and a bunch of re-used assets. I will take my hundred bucks back, I have enough rubbish in my Steam library that I'm never going to play.
