I hate those Google captchas, the traffic lights and shit. My biggest problem is that the images are downsampled and often there is another instance of the object in the background that's not even discernible in the picture because the data is gone.
The "I am not a Robot" checkbox is the best thing for the user.
The most effective thing is a question that only a human can understand.
