Re: Cyberpunk 2077

It's too easy... for everyone else to play. That's the only reason they'd complain about "too many health materials" (they cut that down... there aren't as many of them to pick up in game anymore either) and wanting to put a cooldown on it. If they are that "good" then why are th...

Re: Case Pictures

Heheh yeah, another thing Corsair doesn't think we need anymore. I had that on the Fractal case and it worked for the M.2. I guess that doesn't really matter anymore, if I want to watch i/o I'll use a util. It is a different way of thinking, working with this case. Why I wanted the bigger one was to...

Cyberpunk 2077

I thought I'd try that game again, seeing as I have new hardware. I bought the Phantom Libery DLC and everything. Well... I detest the changes they made to the game since the last time I had it installed. The showstopper was nerfing the way health packs work, now there's a cooldown period before you...

I'm waiting until I break mine. Notice I said "until", not unless  Not expensive if I need it. (meanwhile I'm being very careful with that glass panel. I have to take it off to move the computer anyway (it's fucking heavy and I have to be able to not only lift it, but manoeuver it wit...

I think Google is insisting on that now, for youtube videos. I'm seeing that on vids now.

Re: Windows 95 Release Day

I loved Windows 95 original OEM release (once they started grafting shit onto it, A, B and especially C with the horrid USB stack added, it got unstable). It was a huge improvement at home, from the Windows 3.11 environment I hated at school. (I was taking college courses... I did most of what I cou...

Re: Case Pictures

Yeah, the MSI calculator wouldn't be calculating actual needs, but relative to what PSU you should buy for your hardware. So with that score of 815, it recommends an 850W PSU. Those watt meters you're showing me, you're measuring input wattage of AC household current the PSU is drawing, not the rect...

Re: Case Pictures

Damn, I went to the link in this thread to my pending power supply to review the specs and see that it's $50 more today than I paid yesterday. Sold and shipped by Amazon, Prime logo etc. both new. I paid $239 CAD for it yesterday, and now it's listed at $289

Sometimes it pays to impulse buy :-)

Re: Case Pictures

I know I don't need a 1000W power supply anymore (hardware doesn't draw that much now) but I always overdo everything. I got on that train back in the dual Nvidia GPU days and did that card ever draw juice, and suck a bag of dick at the same time. I'm thinking about all the fans, and maybe one of th...

Yeah, I paid $90 CAD for that, on sale. I'm not one to buy a game without the DLC though. I like the game so far though. That last moon where I had just landed, I had to explore an abandoned research facility to find where those pirates were holed up, and kill them all. I was exploring all these roo...

Re: Case Pictures

Whether it helps or not, it'll be nice to have that cleaned up. It might actually be something I'll have to live with (avoid) and it's not that uncommon. This board may just be sensitive to that interference. I found a Steve video talking about that very thing, static electricity. It seems I have th...

Re: Starfield

Well, pretty good so far. It works great on "Ultra" with all those stupid resolution scaling features turned off, that reduce your graphics to increase performance (e.g. AMD Fidelity Shmidelity). It seems like a good old Bethesda RPG. It didn't waste too much time getting off the ground. I...

Starfield

I bought Starfield last night (but haven't installed it yet). Probably the last Bethesda game that was developed before they got Microsofted. I just happened to get it 33% off last night (with about 5 hours to go) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1716740/Starfield/ It gets horrible reviews everywh...

Re: Case Pictures

Installing that blue 3 speed fan up top on the front fan rail was a good thing to do, it helped with the temperatures all around, both CPU and PCH sensor chip. It's a higher velocity fan too, on the highest switch position. I'm happy with my fan placement now at least. That fan hub inside the back o...

I wanted to wait until I felt good about my computer, but this is what it looks like for now. Re: Need a different case

Damn, no, it's only when I have a static charge. If I discharge myself I can't duplicate the spontaneous power up, or the disruption if it's already running. So I'm back to my original hypothesis. This board must have some sort of EM sensitivity in that it can't tolerate a static discharge to ground...

Fuck... I still have the same problem in this case. I would have touched both sides of the case while doing that, but not the top, the ...

I saw that Microcenter advertised, that looks like an awesome place to shop. We don't have shit that elabourate here. Re: UEFI On This Motherboard

Same here, I would only have been able to get 32 Gb of DDR5 (I was originally considering 4x32=128 but settled for 4x16. It only cost $160 CAD. That's a lot of RAM, for the money compared to the old days even. I did make a mistake though, I should have gone with 2x32 as that would leave room to have...

Re: Need a different case

I thought about it. Not only is it dumb to enclose it like that, but it makes using a normal, front connecting power supply difficult. It's way in there and you have to get your cables connected before you put it in (I had difficulty attaching even a SATA power connector to it after the fact with it...

Re: UEFI On This Motherboard

You went with a DDR4 board too, eh? Much cheaper RAM (and maybe you already have some)

It looks like a nice board... AND... it doesn't have a stupid, mickey mouse i/o shield that you have to clip on like the MSI boards. Gigabyte also uses very good capacitors and stuff.

Re: Need a different case

I mounted the PSU upside down this time, because it looks like it would cook inside that enclosure. It has holes in the bottom of the case for that, with a screen that slides out from the back. I'll just have to remember to clean it. The PSU actually had little rubber feet on the top (two of them, d...

Re: Need a different case

jumping jehovajeebus on fucking stilts! I'm trying to figure out why none of the fans connected to the fan hub on the case are working. It's because the "fan" connector is just for PWM, and it gets its power from a "sata" connector that will have to connect to the PSU. Fuck, that...
