Re: I've Been Putting It Off..

It was a stressful evening trying to complete my work day with the power randomly going out for a few seconds with loud thunder right overhead :) I was constantly dropping out of the encoder to save my work. Everything stayed up though, I have the most important stuff protected by UPS's. It's ...

That is one way of thinking of it lol! Apparently they don't regurgitate what remains in their stomach (from previous feedings) into their victims prior to slurping up their blood like most other blood sucking insects do.

Chagas Disease

I remember first learning about Chagas disease in a collage class back in the 90's and being glad it wasn't here. Now it's here. It looks like California has the worst of it but it's in at least 29 other states, maybe more since it's not a reportable disease in all states.

It’s one of the most ...

Re: Arch Linux 2024

I played around with the issue with the zen kernel again, I removed the kernel along with the initramfs image, then reinstalled it (different kernel version), but same thing happened.

At first after reinstalling it I forgot to run grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg before rebooting, with the ...

pfSense Upgrade

pfSense 2.8.0 based on FreeBSD 15 came out last May, I thought I'd upgrade mine from 2.7.2 (FreeBSD 14) today. After backing up my configs for both pfSense boxes I went about updating my backup pfSense box first, it was several releases behind so it took a little while (it has to be upgraded one ...

Re: Music we like

There doesn't seem to be much radio reception here, I didn't find anything that came in clearly on the AM band, even at night, and FM wasn't much better, but I found this one FM station that comes in clear enough to listen to maybe 70% of the time. It seems to be mostly 90's music, and a lot of ...

My First Haboob

Haboobs are monster dust storms usually pushed by monsoon storms in AZ. One came through here, I noticed everything was brown outside but I was inside so I wasn't affected. Had I been out on the road it would have been a different matter.

The Cyberpower 1500VA UPS that was powering my game machine left the chat today. After updating vanilla Arch today the zen kernel wouldn't boot, it can't find the modules or the root drive. From someone else's post about the same problem:

Warning: /lib/modules/6.16.3-zen1-1-zen/modules.devname not found - ignoring (I added my kernel version since it was an old post)
