Re: Minimize, Maximize, and close buttons gone on Firefox and Thunderbird.

It wasn't that they were removed - they were invisible! They still worked even though they couldn't be seen. Just had to hover until the right one was covered. Just doing it blind. Was blind, but now I see.

Re: Minimize, Maximize, and close buttons gone on Firefox and Thunderbird.

Fixed TB just now. I have no clue how I hid the titlebar to begin with. Just goes to show I can break anything....

Re: Minimize, Maximize, and close buttons gone on Firefox and Thunderbird.

Everything else has normal behavior. Looking around, I accidentally saw Titlebar and clicked it. All buttons are back in Firefox. Now I have to do the same and find it in Thunderbird....

Minimize, Maximize, and close buttons gone on Firefox and Thunderbird.

Just noticed the Min, Max, and Close buttons are invisible on Firefox and Thunderbird. They still work, but you can't see them, and they are spaced closer together. I can't seem to find anything in settings. Maybe this is now natural behavior?

I can use the taskbar but I'm a creature of habit. Why ...

Re: No OpenGL libs

Fixed!
I reinstalled the old binary and simply did a symlink from libFLAC.so.14 to libFLAC.so.12. I need to just pay attention. It first complained about no libFLAC.so.12. My bright idea about rebuilding led to my grief.

Thanks!

No OpenGL libs

I was going to play some extremetuxracer, but it errored out. It couldn't find libFLAC.so.12. I tried to rebuild it, but then it said no OpenGL libraries found.

I found this after the command:

root@darkstar:/home/michael# ls /usr/include/GL
freeglut.h freeglut_ucall.h glew.h glut.h glxext.h ...

I'm on 6.14.0 with the nouveau driver. All is well for my little needs. It is the distro kernel. Just wanted to see if the open source driver would be good. I'm getting lazy also.

I did not like the 2004 ending. Their problems could have been fixed easier than wiping out their whole knowledge base. That was such a letdown.

"Guardrails in place to address ethical concerns." What does that mean? They believe this computer will gain sentience and ask for a body? Voting rights? Maybe it quotes Descartes - "i think, therefore I am".

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

I had some tires on my pop-up camper that were 17 years old. Tread looked great! I was bringing it home last October and one exploded. Dry rot caught up with me. I only use that camper once a year during fall break. I have a regular pull behind big camper for her and I. That one was for the ...

Re: PrtScrn Button not working in current

Yep. The key bindings in System-Settings said it was Meta+Print. I found out that Meta is also known as the Windows Key. But it works just using the PrtScrn key. This was the first time I ever looked at key bindings. Probably won't ever have to look again... :)

I tried to run spectacle from a terminal and I got:

Re: PrtScrn Button not working in current

The Spectacle app that KDE uses works through the start menu. I got my screen grab that way. PrtScrn had always worked for years through KDE and Spectacle. I'm wondering if the keyboard has just gone bad. I've been banging on this one for over ten years. Keyboards are not super expensive, so I'll ...

PrtScrn Button not working in current

PrtScrn button no longer works in current KDE. I have used it for years and now it is gone. Can't find a solution in Google, and no search has been fruitful. Any ideas?

KPatience is a great game. I've won 10,084 games on Freecell. I know there are at least 8 games unsolvable on Freecell, but I haven't ran into them yet. Sometimes, I have found myself trying to find the right path but not quite making it. I rarely use the hint since it seems like cheating a bit. I ...

You were right. Those old games do just fine on nouveau as well as the Kpatience games. Probably won't do nvidia drivers until I get a new rig with a much newer card. May give amd a whirl this time.

I'm actually a bit sorry about that outburst, thinking about it later, but I found him pretty insulting in this video.

If nobody stupid ever uses the computer, Windows 7 is fine for running existing software. The fact that it gets no updates is a bonus.
