Shit... we've been waiting for him, and here it was me that didn't activate his account correctly. Welcome again when you get here! (sorry)

Thanks Grogan and Zema for the kind welcome. It's great to be back with my two oldest, best, and most computer savvy friends. I'd pretty will given up on the other place, so glad to hear we have a place to hang out thanks to you guys. I still have the same interests as before though don't do much actual building any more. Seems like all I do for anyone else these days is debloat new laptops. I don't do much flight simming anymore either as I'm trying to scan and archive all my old 35mm BW negatives from the last 40 or 50 years (thousands of them). I still use Linux every day for most things, but spend a lot of time in Windows too. I have some good payware scanning and printing software that I'm happy with. I haven't read any posts yet but will soon and try and keep up with what's going on.

Ahh, you're finally here. It's damn good to see you. Yep, Zema was the one that created all the forums here. I had it installed already (always have a forum available on my servers) but just a couple of mostly unused forums. I asked him to set up the forums so it would be the way he wanted it to be. Unsurprising that it ended up similar to BBF, as that's how our minds have worked for the last 22 years
I actually haven't been doing much computer work. I quit because of Covid and just kind of never got back to it. Hating what Microsoft did to the computing environment played a big part in that too. Working on someone's laptop for the first time and setting it up with a local account and everything defanged would be a good service to them, I'd say. Right out of the box, with a vendor branded dialog, it tries to force you to use a Microsoft account etc.
That sounds like a big job, scanning all those negatives. You've been to a lot of places. As long as you're enjoying doing the conversion, I guess that's as good as a game.

My older sister had a bunch of negatives and slides scanned about a year ago, they were left by my parents after they died. The company she used also converted some old film reels to digital and she put them up on YT as unlisted so anyone in the family could access them.
